Ensembles

Symphonic Winds
The Wheat Ridge High School Symphonic Winds is a group that meets once marching band ends in the fall. The group consists of all wind and percussion players and focuses on technique and proper playing.
 
String Orchestra
The Wheat Ridge High School Orchestra is a year long group that meets during the day. The ensemble focuses on playing varying repertoire and learning techniques to be proficient on their instruments. Members of this orchestra often double in other ensembles.

Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Band meets both semesters during the school day. It includes saxes, trumpets, trombones and rhythm section. The group performs at concerts, with the choirs, and special jazz festivals.  Membership in the Symphonic Winds or String Orchestra is a prerequisite to enrolling in Jazz Ensemble.
 
Pit Orchestra
The pit orchestra meets after school during the spring semester. Members of this group come from Concert Band and Orchestra. The pit play the music for the Spring Musical. The 2011 musical is “The Sound of Music.”
 
Chamber Ensembles
These ensembles meet at various times throughout the year. Students can create these groups with any instruments and get coached on a weekly basis.
